Andrew Colom is an accomplished writer and real estate developer. He graduated from Columbia University in 2005 with a degree in Literature and Creative Writing. He received a full scholarship from the New York Times to pursue a Masters in Fine Arts and finished his Masters in 2007. Besides pursuing the arts through writing, film production, and theater, he started a real estate company in his hometown of Columbus, Mississippi. He started with 5 Single Family Homes and built a portfolio of up to 15 houses and 300 apartment units. He has worked in all facets of real estate from small to large scale renovations to new home construction, property management, and real estate bookkeeping.

Andrew moved to Detroit in February of 2015 to focus on using the arts and real estate development to improve Detroit's neighborhoods through community partnerships.

David Alade is passionate about urban real estate development and the history of the city of Detroit. After graduating with a degree in Urban Studies and Economics from Columbia University in 2009, he pursued a career on Wall Street where he focused on providing an array of secured financing solutions for consumer finance companies. During his eight years in investment banking at Lehman Brothers, Barclays Capital and Credit Suisse, David facilitated over $100BN in financing for mid-size to Fortune 500 companies, including tens of billions of dollars of financing for the finance arms of the Big 3 US auto companies (Ford, GM and Chrysler). In the summer of 2014, David fell in love with the charismatic energy burning within the city of Detroit and began financially investing in its neighborhoods.

David moved to Detroit in May 2015 to build Century Partners and execute thoughtful and sustainably oriented development in Detroit’s beautiful neighborhoods.

Jonathan Holloway is driven by the power of community and citizens to create inclusive spaces, build equity, rehabilitate individuals, and revitalize cities and regions through industry and culture.

Jonathan has participated in over $2.0 billion in real estate acquisitions and development domestically and internationally, spanning the residential, industrial, commercial and hospitality market segments. Jonathan’s experience includes A&E Real Estate, Standard Hotels, Bunkhouse Group, Avant Gardner & The Brooklyn Mirage. Additionally, he has advised on over $70 billion of capital markets structuring transactions at Goldman Sachs, Barclays Capital, and Lehman Brothers.

Jonathan holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Business, and he has served in volunteer positions with St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Manhattan Land Trust, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and other organizations. 

In 2016, Jonathan’s love of history, architecture, movement, and music first drew him to Detroit as the Paris of the West, Motor City, Motown, and the birthplace of techno. 

Jonathan relocated from New York City to Detroit in 2021 to join the Century Partners team. His responsibilities include overseeing the construction management of our existing portfolio and value-add capital strategy, identifying and implementing cash flow optimization strategies, and building out our hospitality practice.

Ishma Best has distinguished himself in the real estate business with his strong work ethic and optimistic nature. He was initially introduced to real estate as a child through his family's residential and commercial properties in Brooklyn and Barbados. 

Following receipt of his degree in Information Technology at The University of Delaware and Medgar Evers College, Ishma pursued a career in real estate and has worked alongside top luxury real estate brokers, specializing in representing buyers and sellers of condos and co-ops throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn at major brokerage firms Corcoran and Compass. His clients include leaders in the technology and financial sectors, along with some of New York’s most successful young entrepreneurs. He looks forward to bringing that level of service and professionalism to the neighborhoods of Detroit.

In 2018, upon realizing its beautiful history, housing inventory, and the strong pride of its people, Ishma fell in love with Detroit and made the city his home. He especially appreciates the resilience he sees in Detroiters and the opportunity to support equitable neighborhood revitalization.

Ishma leads Century Partners real estate sales and leasing efforts.

 

PROPERTY MANAGER

Elizabeth Jefferson, “EJ”, was born and raised in Detroit and graduated from Redford High School. After college, she started a career in property management as an Office Manager at Brewster Homes in 2014. The team there quickly recognized EJ’s strong work ethic and powerful interpersonal skills which allowed her to rise quickly through the ranks and become a lead property manager.

Since then, EJ has managed a diverse array of multifamily property typologies ranging from 75+ unit townhome communities to 250 unit single asset multifamily buildings. Through this work, EJ discovered a great passion for people and building connected resident communities. In 2017, she received her Real Estate License from the State of Michigan. EJ loves the business of property management and is always searching for ways to evolve and diversify her ever expanding skill set. 

EJ joined Century Partners as a Property Manager and is excited to align her talents with the team’s mission: to rebuild Detroit and help Detroiters achieve wealth via homeownership. 

 
CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Zishan Hussain Sumbal is an accomplished Construction Manager with more than 10 years of experience within the industry. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University with a focus on the science of the art of construction. After matriculating from MSU, Zishan moved to the Jesse D Jones School of Engineering to study construction engineering. In 2019, Zishan graduated with a Master’s in Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Zishan began his career managing the construction of commercial rental units in Lansing, MI with his father in 2009. After his time in Lansing, he moved on to Flint, MI where he shifted his focus to multifamily property development. His experience working in Flint influenced Zishan’s decision to ultimately move to the city of Detroit and join the Century Partners team. He was struck by the similarities between the two Rustbelt cities, from the shared historical narratives to their tough and resilient residents.

Zishan moved to Detroit in 2021 to help develop high quality and sustainable housing for Detroit’s current and future residents. He is excited to play a part in helping to make Detroit’s revitalization momentum more equitable. Zishan manages the rehabilitation of assets within Century Partners single family home portfolio and the value-add capital improvement strategy and implementation for our multifamily portfolio.

 
ASSET MANAGER

ASSET MANAGER

Aaron Wright’s background is in property preservation, project management, residential rehabs and property management. He has rehabbed over 700 homes over the Detroit and Metro Detroit area. In his most recent position, Aaron was the property manager for over 500 properties, located primarily in the city of Detroit.

Aaron was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He started his career working for the property preservation department of Flagstar Bank headquartered in the northern Metro Detroit area. Since making a career shift to Construction & Project Management in 2014 for a privately owned company, he has led the creation rental properties, rehabilitation of homes for sale and property management in Detroit. After immersing himself in Detroit, like many of us, he fell in love with the city. More profoundly, he has fallen in love with the idea of being part of the story of Detroit. To bring it back not just to its former glory, but also into the future as a young and modern city of tomorrow.

Cynthia Lewis (“CeCe”) is a born and bred Detroiter and business maven in the making. CeCe is relentlessly committed to bring families home, believing that settled families build thriving communities.

Prior to joining the Century Partners team, CeCe spent 5 years in the customer service + hospitality industry, improving service performance at some of world’s most prominent hotel brands. Additionally, she brings 4 years of real estate management experience across various asset types in Michigan and Minnesota.

Cynthia’s love for building empowered communities stems from being raised by a large extroverted family in one of the longest standing community neighborhoods in Detroit, University District. The close knit village she experienced as a youth forms the foundation of her dedication to see neighbors to empower each other; the same kind of environment to which she wants to bring her own children home.

After working for many years in the customer service and hospitality industries, Cynthia is thrilled to get back to her Detroit roots and to continue to provide extraordinary customer experiences, with excellence, accuracy, and efficiency.

Jonae Maxey is a native Detroiter who grew up on Detroit’s East Side. She is an aspiring real estate human capital consultant, real estate developer and investor who is passionate about revitalizing inner city communities while bringing communities together. She is a rising senior at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. On the weekends, she teaches high school students from Detroit and metro-Detroit entrepreneurship at the business school. During her time at Michigan she founded the International Deaf and Hearing Alliance where she takes students to Mexico to volunteer with the Deaf community. She also is a member of the optiMize program where she received funding to pursue her first rehab in the city of Detroit. In her spare time, she volunteers within her community and educate inner city communities on real estate investing.

As a 2020 Summer Fellow, Jonae will be assisting in the acquisition, leasing, and marketing aspects of the business. Leveraging her business acumen and community development knowledge, she will find new ways for us to connect with the community.

India Solomon is native Detroiter who grew up between Detroit's West Side and the inner-ring suburb of Oak Park. She is an emerging equitable development professional passionate about building livable, sustainable, and culturally responsive communities. As the 2018 Summer Fellow, India will employ her skills in visual and written communication, policy analysis, neighborhood planning, and real estate development to support the Fitzgerald Neighborhood Revitalization Project.

As a second-year Master of Urban and Regional Planning Candidate at the University of Michigan, India serves as Co-President of the Urban Planning Student Association and Student Representative on the Michigan Association of Planning’s Board of Directors. She is pursuing an academic focus in physical planning and design and a Certificate in Real Estate Development. India now lives on Detroit’s East Side and is committed to strengthening the city’s neighborhoods through her work.

Kyle Ofori is a prospective economic and community developer. As the 2017 summer fellow, he is learning about and working in property management, development finance, and community engagement.

Kyle studied Economics and Mandarin Chinese at Princeton University. After graduating, he moved to Detroit to teach high school math at Jalen Rose Leadership Academy with Teach For America. He later joined the apprenticeship program at Detroit Labs, through which he became a full-time mobile application developer. While there, he co-founded an after-school program to teach high school students the fundamentals of coding and front-end web development. In his spare time, he volunteered with Eastside Community Network, a local community development corporation.

Kyle is a candidate for the Master in Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School and the Master of Urban Planning at Harvard Graduate School of Design. He is a Sheila C. Johnson Leadership Fellow at the Kennedy School. He is focusing on economic development in underserved communities.
